The Status Quo is Not Working

We need a redemptive paradigm shift.

There are 5,247 Teaching Elders in the PCA. Of that number, only a small percentage of TEs are made up of ethnic minorities.

These facts are what galvanized the PCA to take the action of creating the PCA Unity Fund in 2016.

An Intentional Effort

We need an intentional effort to accelerate the growth of ethnic minority leadership if we are going to be faithful to the scriptures, true to the reformed faith, and obedient to the Great Commission.

About the
PCA Unity Fund

The 43rd General Assembly considered a personal resolution on racial reconciliation. Presbyteries responded to this appeal “to prayerfully consider any and all sins of racial prejudice” by submitting overtures on racial reconciliation that called us to individual and corporate repentance.

Our mission is to subsidize the training, mentoring and development of men of diverse backgrounds seeking ordination in the PCA through partnership with churches and presbyteries. We envision future generations of Reformed minority Teaching Elders, Ruling Elders called to the Gospel ministry and non-ordained minority staff members serving in the Presbyterian Church in America.

Process

We aspire to become a denomination able to welcome people of various ethnicities without compromising biblical principles or lowering our standards of ordination.

Subsidize

In order to maintain our high ordination standards while removing potential obstacles, we will subsidize seminary education for minority students at approved reformed seminaries.

Incentivize

We will provide scholarships for minority ruling and teaching elders to attend General Assembly in order to increase their involvement in and contribution to the courts of the church. We will also provide funds to churches, church plants, RUF, and MTW to assist with hiring minority ministry staff.

Facilitate

Grants will be distributed to explore the role of minorities in reformed denominations throughout the history of the United States. We will also connect recipients with mentors, opportunities, and with each other for ongoing support, encouragement, and training.
